Joint Injection

• We are delighted to offer Shoulder & Knee Joint Injection
• These are suitable for a variety of conditions
  • eg. Osteoarthritis, Frozen Shoulder,
  • Meniscal (cartilage) tears
  • & Rotator Cuff injuries (muscles in shoulder)
• Injection can be helpful as part of the treatment for these conditions
• The injection includes local anaesthetic and steroid mixture to help relieve inflammation and pain

Who is suitable for a Joint Injection?

• Many people are suitable but not everyone
• Certain conditions will not be helped by steroid injection e.g. muscle tears
• People on certain medications e.g. blood thinners, may not be good candidates for a joint injection
• Joint injections can be very helpful, but also have a small risk of complications e.g. infection, failure, bruising, bleeding

How much does this cost?

• Most Health Insurance policies (VHI, Laya, Irish Life) cover Joint Injections
• If you do not have health insurance, cost is €100
• If you have a valid medical card, cost is €60

How do I organise a Joint injection?

• Please book in with Dr. Sugan Nayager or Dr. Helen Kilrane
  who will ask you questions about your symptoms, examine your joint(s) and let you know if you might be a candidate for a joint injection
• The Doctor will then provide you with the necessary medication and a separate appointment for the injection itself
