Welcome to our patient portal.
We have designed this for patients of Wheaton Hall Medical Practice, for the secure exchange of any medical information between yourself and the practice.
We hope that you will find it a time-saver, and that it reduces unnecessary trips to the surgery.
Data security is important to us in the practice, and the HSE cyber attack highlighted this. We used more email during the pandemic, however we would now like to move to a more secure method of online connection with you. So we hope to use this portal can become the main online communication tool between you and the practice.
The portal’s primary function is administrative. You may use it for prescription ordering, and also for the exchange of documents or brief messages. While messages from the portal will be checked during working hours in the practice, however please do not use it for urgent medical requests as we cannot guarantee a rapid response time.
The link below allows you to register with the portal or to log in if already registered.
The portal uses two-factor authentication for added security. Every time you log in, you will immediately be sent a security code to your nominated email address to complete the process.
A brief guide to the uses of the portal can be found below
Registration
When you use the patient portal for the first time, we ask you to register for security reasons. You will be asked to provide your name, address and date of birth. We can then match your details with your patient record in the practice. Please supply us with your email address and phone number. The email address is key as any notification messages will be sent to your email. The portal currently allows only one named patient per email address.
Your details will be stored securely and will not be shared with any third parties.
We also ask if you wish to receive periodic mailshots from the practice. These will be for relevant practice health information only.
Prescription ordering
You can use the portal for previously prescribed medications. The doctor reviews all prescription requests, and issues your prescription directly to your preferred pharmacy where possible.
When you use the portal for the first time, please supply the name (and dosage if appropriate) of your medications. e.g. nexium 40mg daily, paracetamol 500mg twice daily etc
Enter one item per line. There is a text box for any messages such as changes of medications or doses that may have occurred at a hospital clinic. The portal remembers previous prescription orders for ease of re-ordering. This however can be edited.
Please nominate your chosen pharmacy. We will send your prescription to them electronically.
For private patients, there is a repeat prescription fee of €20. You may pay securely while ordering your prescription.
We will send you an email when we have processed your prescription request. This will either inform you that the prescription has been sent to your pharmacy or if we need any further information. It is good clinical practice to review all prescriptions from time to time.
Sending files/messages
You might use this, for example, to request a repeat medical certificate if the doctor is aware of your circumstances, or to send a document to the doctor.
Attachments are allowed if required.
Inbox
When the practice sends you a document,we will send it to your portal inbox. An email will notify you that this has happened. You may then log on to the portal and download it
