Non Attendance Policy
Wheaton Hall Medical Practice is committed to ensuring that the best possible service is provided to all patients registered with the practice.
Patient non-attendance of booked appointments adversely impacts on patients.
The ‘Did Not Attend’ (DNA) patient takes the appointment slot for another patient who could have attended. This leads to an increase waiting time for appointments.
The practice has an average of SIXTY APPOINTMENTS PER MONTH where patients do not attend.
Reducing the volume of non-attendance will:
- Reduce waiting times for appointments for patients
- Improve access to appointment times that suit patients
- Allow clinics work more efficiently/less waiting time in the waiting room for patients
Wheaton Hall Medical Practice staff will make every reasonable effort to ensure that patients are aware of their scheduled appointment.
Every effort will be made to communicate effectively with all patients including those with language, literacy and vision difficulties, and those who change address frequently. The practice will exercise discretion on a case-by-case basis to avoid disadvantaging patients in the case of genuine hardship, misunderstandings and other unavoidable circumstances.
We ask patients to:
– Advise Wheaton Hall Medical Practice of any change to their contact details
– Attend their arranged clinic appointment or reschedule with reasonable advanced notice
Recurrent non-attendance will be brought to the attention of the Partners and Practice Manager. More than three DNAs in a 12 month period may result in that person being asked to leave the practice.
HOW TO AVOID BEING A DNA
